Functional Specification
The Functional Specification is a comprehensive document that fully describes the design of a product or application. This process begins with a discovery process where we collectively outline goals, identify end-users, and describe key features of the project in detail. We also review existing application products and incorporate the findings.

The end result is a document of proposed application system features and functions within the context of their visual navigation, user interaction, and information delivery environment. This Functional Specification reflects and validates system functionality with front-line staff and management. Additionally the document facilitates establishment of project administration consensus regarding functional scope of the proposed application. Sections include:

• Product concept, positioning, and target audience description
• Usability design objectives
• Information architecture of the system
• Detailed screen schematics of navigation and function execution
• Narrative description of specific user and system interaction
• Language recommendations for labels and navigation controls

This is a cooperative and iterative process of brainstorming, mock-up, critique, and refinement involving both 2Plus2 and the client.
