University of California, Berkeley
2Plus2 Partners has been working with UC Berkeley’s Residential and Student Service Programs department (RSSP) to conduct a strategic requirements analysis and systems assessment. The results of these studies will form the basis of a multi-million dollar systems purchase and implementation effort to integrate all aspects of student housing and dining services as well as conference and facility management functions. 2Plus2’s experience in software systems design and definition analysis provides the foundation for this long-term engagement.
Workflow Analysis
2Plus2 has conducted dozens of interviews and other workflow analyses of various housing and dining service functions within the campus. These interviews have been compiled into detailed reports, reviewed by the interviewees, and further reviewed by department managers. In addition, the workflow analysis process has incorporated these results into detailed function definitions and inter-department data exchange maps which detail opportunities for significant application improvement.
These defined business requirements have also been compiled into assessment instruments that are structuring the vendor application assessment and data integration needs of an implementation plan. As a direct result of these studies, UC Berkeley RSSP will be targeting a substantial number of its foundation systems for upgrade or replacement within the ensuing 18 months of our report.
Expectations for work process efficiency improvements and, most importantly, student service satisfaction improvements are running quite high. The assessment process being conducted by 2Plus2 has been so well received within this group of staff members that participation in our analyses is at an all time high and excitement for the next round of systems implementation continues to grow.
